Micro-Needling
Micro-Needling, also known as skin needling or Collagen Induction Therapy, involves the use of The Derma Pen (the device), a medical instrument that is applied to the skin with the aim of stimulation of new collagen and elastin. Micro-needling is a procedure that uses a bunch of tiny needles to puncture the very first layer of skin. This process works to rejuvenate your skin by boosting collagen production, which in turn reduces the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines and elevates the overall texture of your skin. The final effect is revitalisation/rejuvenation without extensive damage.

How does Micro-needling work?
The device creates micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating the body’s natural healing process. Because of those tiny “wounds”, the body produces elastin and collagen to heal the “wounds”. Through the healing process, the dermis becomes thicker and lines and wrinkles become less noticeable. Professional micro needling is considered to be one of the safest skin treatments procedures and is well tolerated.
What happens after I’ve had a Micro-needling treatment?
You may experience a dry, tight feeling and redness. It will feel like a mild sunburn which may last up to 24 hours. Most people return to normal activities immediately after treatment.
How long before I see results?
Typically results are seen after one treatment, but for optimal outcome and depending on the client’s concern, a series of sessions will be recommended, with a maintenance session every 6-12 months. After micro needling, the body needs time to produce, organise and transform into new collagen and new blood vessels. A time interval of 6 weeks is recommended between each treatment as it takes that long for collagen to form.
PROCEDURE
A local numb cream will be applied to the treatment area one hour before procedure. The skin is punctured in a specific pattern over the skin for best results. The micro needles create channels or micro wounds stimulating the skin’s cell rejuvenation. After care instructions will be provided at the end of your first treatment.
